Continuous dissolved manganese (Mn) Analyzer | SEIBOLD
The continuous analyzer for dissolved manganese (Mn) is a robust and precise instrument designed to measure manganese levels in various water sources. It utilizes a spectrometric method with an LED detector to provide accurate readings, with a measurement range of 0.005 - 1.00 mg/L and an accuracy of +/- 3%. The device features automatic calibration and cleaning, a color LCD screen, and can operate continuously or on a programmable schedule. It is suitable for applications in drinking water monitoring, river surveillance, the semiconductor industry, and electroplating. The analyzer is available in stainless steel or plastic housing, depending on the application.
Manganese (Mn) can come from the following sources:
- Natural sources: Manganese (Mn) is widely present in the Earth’s crust, usually in combination with iron.
- Industries: Manganese (Mn) is primarily used in the manufacture of iron and alloys, as well as an oxidant for washing, bleaching, and disinfection. Additionally, potassium permanganate is used as an ingredient in a wide range of products. More recently, it has been used as an organic compound, MMT.
- Drinking water: It is naturally present in surface and groundwater, with a recommended maximum concentration of about 0.5 mg/L.
Manganese (Mn) is an essential element for most animals and humans. However, under- or over-consumption can have negative effects, particularly inhalation of large doses can cause neurological effects.
Measurement method: The method is based on measuring metal ions in wastewater and their reaction with reactive dyes using spectrometric measurement. Changes in the intensity of visible light passing through a cuvette containing samples of complexed metals are measured to obtain a proportional concentration of metals.
