Bettair Cities recognized in international air quality sensor testing

Bettair Cities has received 9 awards at the 2025 AIRLAB Solutions Microsensors Challenge, following several months of independent evaluation under a wide range of environmental and air pollution conditions. The results provide detailed insight into the performance of the Bettair Static Node, a multi-pollutant air quality monitoring system designed for outdoor and underground railway station applications.

International evaluation

Testing took place in France, Ghana, India and an underground railway environment.

Independent evaluation across multiple environments

The fifth edition of the AIRLAB Solutions Microsensors Challenge evaluated 47 microsensor models from Africa, North America, Asia and Europe. Tests were carried out under different environmental and pollution conditions in France, Ghana and India. For the first time, the programme also included an underground railway environment, extending the evaluation to an additional type of demanding air quality monitoring application.

This international approach makes it possible to assess microsensor technologies under different operating conditions rather than relying solely on manufacturer specifications or a single test environment.

Bettair Static Node ranked first in key evaluation categories

According to the AIRLAB assessment, the Bettair Static Node was the best-performing OA-M system overall. It was also identified as the best-performing system in IA-URS. The evaluation highlighted a combination of very good accuracy, environmental performance, excellent utility and usability.

These results form part of the nine awards received by Bettair Cities during the 2025 Challenge and provide independent technical recognition across several evaluation environments.

Best accuracy results for outdoor NO₂ and O₃

The Bettair Static Node achieved the best accuracy for outdoor NO₂ measurement in France. It also obtained the best accuracy for outdoor O₃ across all outdoor sites included in the evaluation.

These results are particularly relevant when assessing microsensor systems for applications where pollutant-specific performance is an important selection criterion.

Multi-pollutant air quality measurement

The Bettair Static Node is a multi-pollutant air quality monitoring system. The AIRLAB evaluation identifies the following measured pollutants:

  • Particulate matter: PM1, PM2.5 and PM10
  • Nitrogen compounds: NO and NO₂
  • Oxidants: O₃
  • Carbon compounds: CO and CO₂

This combination enables several air quality parameters to be monitored from the same system, supporting distributed outdoor and underground monitoring applications.

Additional environmental measurements

In addition to pollutant monitoring, the Bettair Static Node includes several additional measurements identified in the AIRLAB assessment:

  • Temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • Atmospheric pressure
  • Wind
  • Sound intensity
  • Geolocation

These complementary parameters can provide useful environmental context alongside pollutant measurements when analysing monitoring data.

Selecting the right microsensor for each application

One of the main conclusions highlighted by AIRLAB is that there is no universal microsensor. Performance depends on the pollutant being measured, the deployment environment and the intended application. Independent evaluations therefore provide useful information for comparing technologies according to specific monitoring requirements.
